Broadway Flea Market Moves Indoors to Hammerstein Ballroom

The annual Broadway Cares fundraiser, typically held in Shubert Alley, relocated indoors to Hammerstein Ballroom on September 27 due to inclement weather. The event features 60+ vendor tables, silent and live auctions, and 50 special guests.

The September 27 Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction moved indoors to Hammerstein Ballroom, located at 311 West 34th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, due to inclement weather. The annual event, presented by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, began at 10 AM.

The venue is ADA compliant with ramp accessibility at the building entrance; the basement level is accessible only by stairs. A layout map is available at BroadwayCares.org and Broadway Cares’ social media channels.

Attendees could browse more than 60 tables representing Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, participate in silent and live auctions, and meet 50 special guests at the Autograph Table & Photo Booth, including Jasmin Savoy Brown (Hadestown), Tony winner Danny Burstein (Awake and Sing!), and Tony nominee Christopher Jackson (Hamilton).

The silent auction featured 156 lots opening every half hour, including handwritten musical phrases from The Book of Mormon, Dreamgirls, and Mary Poppins, plus one-of-a-kind items such as Satine’s swing from Moulin Rouge! The Musical. The live auction, held on the seventh floor, offered experiences including making a Broadway debut in & Juliet, shadowing stage managers at The Lion King or Wicked, and attending opening night premieres.

Last year’s event raised a record $1,633,803. Since 1987, the 39 editions have raised more than $21 million for Broadway Cares, which has awarded over $300 million for essential services for people with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses since 1988.
