Aaron Tveit is returning to Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway for a limited engagement, reprising his Tony-winning role as Christian for 15 performances from August 18 through August 29 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The production closes August 30, with Christian Douglas performing the final show.
Tveit, who won the 2021 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for creating the role, most recently played Freddie Trumper in the Broadway revival of Chess. He joins a cast that includes original cast member Ricky Rojas as Santiago, Kelsie Watts as Satine, AK Naderer as Nini, Eric Anderson as Harold Zidler, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as The Duke of Monroth, and Arianna Rosario as Satine Alternate.
The production, directed by Alex Timbers with choreography by Sonya Tayeh, is based on Baz Luhrmann’s film and features a score of modern pop covers including “Firework” by Katy Perry, “Your Song” by Elton John, and “Chandelier” by Sia. The story follows the tragic love story between performer Satine and composer Christian at Paris’ Moulin Rouge.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical has won 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Choreography, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design, and Best Sound Design. The production has performed for over 12 million audience members across 15 productions worldwide and continues in multiple international productions and a North American national tour.
