The revival of Ragtime on Broadway ends August 16 with a final performance at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The production won four Tony Awards at the 2026 ceremony on June 7, including Best Revival of a Musical, Leading Actor (Joshua Henry), Leading Actress (Caissie Levy), and Sound Design (Kai Harada)—tying it with The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! as the season’s most Tony-winning musicals.
The revival opened October 16, 2025. A national tour is set to launch in fall 2027 from Shea’s Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, New York, with dates and casting to be announced.
Based on E.L. Doctorow’s novel, Ragtime features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The story follows Coalhouse Walker, Jr., a Black man who purchases a Model T Ford, setting off events that span New York City society at the dawn of the 20th century, involving figures including Harry Houdini, Henry Ford, Evelyn Nesbit, Booker T. Washington, Emma Goldman, and Stanford White.
The closing cast is led by Henry as Coalhouse Walker, Jr., Caissie Levy as Mother, and Brandon Uranowitz as Tateh, with Ben Davis as Father, Nichelle Lewis as Sarah, Julie Benko as Emma Goldman, John Clay III as Booker T. Washington, and Rodd Cyrus as Harry Houdini.
