Reece Weaver, a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and professional dancer known for Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, makes her Broadway debut in Chicago beginning September 7 at the Ambassador Theatre through October 18. Weaver, a University of Alabama Dance Team alumna with a degree in dance, takes on the role of Roxie Hart for a six-week engagement.
NaTasha Yvette Williams returns to the role of Matron “Mama” Morton, and Red Concepción reprises his role as Amos Hart. The current Broadway company also features Lissa deGuzman as Velma Kelly, Max von Essen as Billy Flynn, and J. Workman as Mary Sunshine.
The Tony-winning revival, directed by Walter Bobbie with choreography by the late Ann Reinking, features a book by the late Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Ebb. The production won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997. Since its 1996 debut, Chicago has played in 36 countries and been seen by 33 million people worldwide, making it the second-longest running show in Broadway history.
