Broadway’s Every Brilliant Thing and Death of a Salesman both conclude their extended runs with final performances on August 9.
Every Brilliant Thing, written by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe, plays at the Hudson Theatre. The production is currently led by Tracee Ellis Ross, the third star of one of the season’s highest-grossing plays. The role was originated by Daniel Radcliffe, who earned a 2026 Tony nomination, and was later played by Mariska Hargitay in her Broadway debut. The solo play follows a nameless protagonist navigating a distant father, a suicidal mother, and her own deep sadness by chronicling brilliant things in the world. Audience members are invited to participate each night, reading favourite brilliant things and standing in for characters. The production opened March 12 after previews began February 21, playing 169 performances and 22 previews. A national tour is scheduled for next year. Jeremy Herrin and Macmillan directed the Broadway production, which transferred from London’s West End.
Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller’s 1949 Pulitzer and Tony-winning classic, closes at the Winter Garden Theatre. The revival stars Tony winners Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf as Willy and Linda Loman, with Christopher Abbott as Biff Loman. Director Joe Mantello won his third career Tony Award for the production, which also won Best Revival and Featured Actress in a Play for Metcalf—six total wins, the most of any show in the 2025–2026 season. The revival has been a consistent top grosser, setting house records and playing to standing-room-only crowds for months.
