China Anne McClain, known for her work in the Descendants franchise, Black Lightning, and A.N.T. Farm, makes her Broadway debut in The Great Gatsby beginning August 3 at the Broadway Theatre.
McClain takes on the role of Daisy Buchanan opposite Ryan McCartan, who rejoined the company as Jay Gatsby on July 27. She succeeds two-time Tony nominee Eva Noblezada, who played her final performance of a return engagement on July 26. Great Gatsby national tour star Senzel Ahmady made her Broadway debut in the role during the interim week of July 27–August 2.
The Broadway cast also includes Corbin Bleu as Nick Carraway, Naturi Naughton-Lewis as Jordan Baker, John Behlmann as Tom Buchanan, Linedy Genao as Myrtle Wilson, Charlie Pollock as George Wilson, and Matthew Saldívar as Meyer Wolfsheim.
Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, The Great Gatsby features music and lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Jason Howland, with a book by Kait Kerrigan. Marc Bruni directs with choreography by Dominique Kelley. The musical won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical.
