The Strokes joined Saturday Night Live‘s Five-Timers Club this week with a pair of performances featuring green screen-assisted visuals, elaborate lighting, and an unexpected cameo from actor Walton Goggins.
Supporting their latest album, Reality Awaits, the New York alt-rock band performed “Lonely in the Future” and “Going Shopping.” A Palestinian flag was displayed on the drumhead of Fabrizio Moretti’s kit during both performances.
For “Going Shopping,” Goggins joined the band on bongos, recreating his appearance in the song’s music video.
Guitarist Nick Valensi, who has been on leave from the band since earlier this year for undisclosed reasons, was absent from the SNL performances.
