Céline Dion was spotted playing air bass during Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere in Las Vegas on Thursday, November 5, according to fan-filmed footage shared on Instagram by user @theordacityyy. The video shows the Canadian singer standing in a suite inside the venue and mimicking the bass techniques of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo.

The moment occurred during the band’s customary “Kirk and Rob Doodle” instrumental segment, which gives guitarist Kirk Hammett and Trujillo an opportunity to jam together. According to the reported setlist, the November 5 show included “Motown Yo Town” and “Copenhagen.” Slash was also reportedly seen in the suite, and members of No Doubt were among other musicians attending.

Dion has previously shared her appreciation for Metallica. Earlier this year, she shared a selection of songs from her personal playlist, which included Metallica’s 1996 single “Until It Sleeps.” In the video, she said, “Eddy, one of my twins, his favorite band is Metallica.”

The appearance comes after Dion returned to full-length concerts in September following a six-year absence. In 2022, she announced she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that had affected her ability to perform. She completed the first leg of her Paris comeback performances in October.

Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency launched at Sphere on October 1. The format, introduced during the band’s M72 World Tour, features different setlists across paired Thursday and Saturday concerts. The band concludes the 2026 portion of its Sphere residency on Saturday, November 7, with performances scheduled to resume in January 2027.
