Aaron Carter Estate Settles With Walgreens Over Xanax Prescriptions Music News
The estate of singer Aaron Carter has reached a settlement with Walgreens and Santa Monica Medical Plaza Pharmacy in a wrongful death lawsuit tied to his 2022 death. Terms were not made public, and claims against dentist Jason Mirabile remain pending.

The estate of Aaron Carter has reached a settlement with Walgreens and Santa Monica Medical Plaza Pharmacy in the wrongful death lawsuit filed on behalf of his son, Princeton “Prince” Lyric Carter. In a court filing obtained by Rolling Stone, an attorney for the estate said the parties had “reached a settlement resolving all claims” involving Walgreens and Santa Monica Medical Plaza Pharmacy.

The settlement does not include the estate’s claims against dentist Jason Mirabile, which remain pending. The terms were not made public. Attorneys for Walgreens did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and lawyers for Santa Monica Medical Plaza Pharmacy declined to comment.

Carter was found dead in his bathtub in November 2022. The lawsuit, filed the following year by his former fiancée, Melanie Martin, alleges that two doctors and the pharmacies overprescribed Xanax. A Los Angeles County judge ruled last year that the case could proceed to a jury trial.

In May, the estate settled with Dr. John Faber, who was sued through his psychiatry practice, Amen Clinics. Lawyers for the clinic said general damages were capped at $650,000 under California’s Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act (MICRA). Amen’s attorneys maintained that the clinic followed all standards of care and that Carter’s death was caused by inhalation of difluoroethane, not Xanax.
