New trends in regional Mexican music have leaned toward less aggressive lyrics and fresh sounds that blend with traditional Mexican music, moving away from corridos tumbados, according to Billboard.
On Tuesday, October 20, the panel "The New Mexican Music Generation" brought together Clave Especial, Edgardo Nuñez, Emmanuel Cortés, Hermanos Espinoza and Los Dos de Tamaulipas to discuss the road to success.
Hermanos Espinoza, known for positive lyrics that often reference God, said their family background shaped their start. "We started by playing at small parties, which our mom used to book for us," the artists recalled. They were born in McAllen, Texas, and emphasized that discipline is the key to achieving dreams.
Los Dos de Tamaulipas, who have spent more than a decade in the industry, have reached No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart three times this year and a top 10 on Hot Latin Songs. "This career requires a lot of patience," they said.
Clave Especial, a California-based group signed by Jesús Ortiz Paz to his label Street Mob Records, said it had to earn a duet with Fuerza Regida through hard work. The group said its song "No Pasa Nada" resonated with audiences.
Emmanuel Cortés, 19, blends regional Mexican music with cumbia. Born in Arkansas, he said he made his first recordings in a homemade studio. Edgardo Nuñez, born in Sinaloa and now based in Phoenix, has written and produced for artists including Peso Pluma and Fuerza Regida before launching his own singing career.
