Ben Platt Stars in Midnight at the Never Get London Premiere Musicals & Broadway
Tony winner Ben Platt leads the cast of Mark Sonnenblick's musical Midnight at the Never Get, opening July 20 at London's Menier Chocolate Factory through September 12.

Mark Sonnenblick’s Midnight at the Never Get begins its U.K. premiere at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory on July 11, with opening night on July 20 and performances continuing through September 12. Director David Cromer helms the production.

Tony winner Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen, Parade) leads the cast alongside Gregor Milne and Barry James. The musical, with book, music, and lyrics by Sonnenblick, is set in 1965 New York City and follows the secret romance between Trevor Copeland and Arthur Brightman, whose relationship was illegal at the time. The two perform their love story in a clandestine nightclub act.

Midnight at the Never Get previously had developmental runs in Provincetown, Massachusetts (2017) and at the 2016 New York Musical Festival, followed by an Off-Broadway production at York Theatre in 2018 and a filmed performance streamed by Signature Theatre in 2021. Cromer’s London staging is a new production.

Sonnenblick has since written songs for Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, including the Grammy- and Oscar-winning “Golden.” The project is conceived by Sonnenblick with Max Friedman and Sam Bolen, the latter of whom appeared in previous productions.

The production features choreography by Lynne Page, scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Jonathan Lipman, lighting design by Heather Gilbert, sound design by Paul Groothuis, and music supervision and orchestrations by Andrew Resnick. Menier is producing in association with Greg Berlanti, Robbie Rogers, and ATG Productions.
