The segment, set as a Law & Order: SVU parody, featured Hargitay reprising her role as Detective Olivia Benson alongside co-star Ice-T as Sgt. Odafin Fin Tutuola.
The sketch’s premise centred on whether Swift would attend that evening’s ceremony. Hargitay and her SVU colleagues gathered around an evidence board connected by pushpins and strings, making increasingly outlandish connections between nominated television shows and Swift’s musical universe. Swift then emerged in a detective suit to help solve the mystery.
Swift provided four cryptic clues: “Saccharide. Aries. From the Vineyard. North or South.” After the detectives worked through the puzzle, the answer emerged: Swift’s husband Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs were playing the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football at the same time as the Emmys ceremony.
