Coy "Denver" Parton, brother of country music icon Dolly Parton, has died at 82.

Coy “Denver” Parton, brother of country music icon Dolly Parton, died Thursday, July 23rd at age 82. According to an obituary posted by Atchley Funeral Home of Tennessee, he was a crane operator who spent years building bridges and worked as a homestead farmer and avid hunter. No cause of death was disclosed.

Denver was the third of 12 children born to Lee and Avie Lee Owens Parton, two years older than Dolly Parton, who will turn 81 in January. He is survived by daughters Chris Parton and Jennifer Parton, grandson Ian Parton, brother Bobby Parton, and sisters Willadeene Buzzeo, Dolly Parton, Stella Parton, Cassie Griffith, Freida Parton, Rachel George, and Laura Price, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private service will be held at a later date. As of Monday evening, Dolly Parton had not issued a public statement regarding her brother’s death.
