Grande’s legal team alleges a pattern of illegal behavior in which hackers targeted personal digital accounts of photographers and producers who worked with her, then sold the data and content for “significant sums of money.” The suit targets unnamed John Does and seeks to “uncover the identities of these currently unknown and unscrupulous individuals in order to hold them accountable for their invasive and reprehensible conduct.”

The complaint outlines a history of breaches spanning Grande’s career since her 2011 music debut. In 2019, hackers acquired login credentials for a Dropbox account belonging to a photographer who worked with Grande. In 2020, defendants hacked a producer’s mobile device and accessed unreleased masters, demos, and recording session footage. In 2023 alone, hackers obtained and leaked 45 unreleased songs. In 2024, hackers created a Gmail account and domain impersonating a photographer to trick a digital technician into sending unreleased photos.

Grande’s suit asserts that the conduct has caused “unlawful and egregious theft, dissemination, and exploitation of unreleased content” and states that “it is imperative to Ms. Grande to ensure — on behalf of herself and others — that such conduct is deterred to the fullest extent possible.”
