J. Cole cancelled his concert at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on August 27 following the death of a touring crew member in a trucking accident. The 66-year-old driver veered off an interstate and overturned while transporting gear from a prior show.

J. Cole’s performance at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on August 27 has been cancelled following the death of a member of his touring crew in a trucking accident.

The crew member, identified as 66-year-old Jarlath Parkinson of Jackson, South Carolina, was driving a semi-truck carrying gear from J. Cole’s concert at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday. According to California Highway Patrol, the truck veered off an interstate highway and overturned. Parkinson died at the scene.

“It’s unknown at this time, may have been a distraction or fell asleep. Unfortunately, the solo occupant did not survive the crash,” said Sgt. David Barker of the California Highway Patrol.

Ticketmaster purchasers will receive automatic refunds. Fans who bought tickets through third-party resellers were instructed to contact their point of purchase.

J. Cole is touring in support of his seventh studio album, The Fall Off. His next scheduled dates are Oakland on Saturday and Sunday, followed by two shows in Los Angeles the following week. The rapper is slated to perform in 50 cities across more than 15 countries.
