André 3000 (born André Benjamin) has joined the cast of Netflix’s Scooby-Doo: Origins, a live-action reimagining of the 2002 film. The series is currently filming in Atlanta and will premiere globally on the streaming platform in 2027.
André 3000’s role in the series has not been disclosed. The cast also includes Mckenna Grace as Daphne, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred. Actress Cathy Moriarty has also joined in an undisclosed recurring role. Toby Haynes will executive produce and direct the first episode.
The Grammy-winning artist has extensive acting credits, including roles in Jimi: All Is By My Side (2013), High Life, Four Brothers, Idlewild, Revolver and Be Cool. He also created the Cartoon Network series Class of 3000, which aired from 2006 to 2008.
As a member of Outkast, André 3000 — along with Big Boi and Dungeon Family collaborators Sleepy Brown and Killer Mike — contributed to the 2002 Scooby-Doo soundtrack with the track “Land of a Million Drums,” which peaked at No. 46 on the U.K. Singles Chart. Since Outkast’s last album in 2006, he has pursued solo projects including the 2023 flute album New Blue Sun and the 2025 project 7 Piano Sketches.
