Guitarricadelafuente, a Spanish singer-songwriter known for blending modern and traditional folk sounds, made his television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday. He performed “BABIECA!,” a standout track from his 2025 album Spanish Leather.
The performance began with Guitarricadelafuente singing softly while playing a zanfona, or hurdy-gurdy, before band members joined to build the arrangement into an upbeat club-inspired style. Colman Domingo, who was guest-hosting the show, introduced the artist.
“BABIECA!” explores themes of desire and falling in love, inspired by a nightclub where Guitarricadelafuente’s parents met. The track demonstrates his experimentation with a wider sonic palette on Spanish Leather, which he has said aims to capture contemporary storytelling grounded in daily life and generational moments.
Beyond his musical work, Guitarricadelafuente is starring in La Bola Negra, a war epic directed by Spanish duo Los Javis that spans Spanish history across 1932, 1937, and 2017. The film won the Best Director prize at Cannes and will have its theatrical release on November 6, followed by a Netflix premiere on December 4. The cast also includes Penélope Cruz, Glenn Close, and Julio Torres, among others.
