Jay Worthy has released a 16-bit video game called P of the Week, a Super Mario and Streets of Rage-inspired title designed by Kyle Zimmer. The game allows players to control Worthy in a retro-style adventure.
“I’m an old video game collector and am just happy that I have my own game with my homies as characters,” Worthy told Complex. “It feels like a mix of my two favorite games, Super Mario and Streets of Rage.”
Zimmer designed the game to replicate the experience of playing on vintage CRT monitors. “I wanted the game to feel like something you grew up playing on a CRT, not a modern retro imitation,” he said.
The game precedes the August 28 release of Generation P, a collaborative album between Worthy and legendary funk musician George Clinton, released under the duo name LNDN DRGS with producer Sean House. The project features Snoop Dogg, Larry June, Leven Kali, Ty Dolla $ign, Channel Tres, Terrace Martin, Kokane, Curren$y, 03 Greedo, Eyedress, Del the Funky Homosapien, Aceyalone, Ab-Soul, YG and The Game.
Previous singles from the album include “Knee Deep” featuring Snoop Dogg and “Atomic P.”
