Kyle Crownover, tour manager for Tyler Childers since 2017, is releasing his own music during breaks from overseeing Childers’ live shows. Over two months in late 2025, Crownover released four singles to streaming services, marking his first songs written outside a previous Nashville songwriting push.
In November, Crownover released “The Flame,” co-written with Parker Millsap. The track begins as a stripped-down acoustic blend of folk and blues before building to an electric rock crescendo. In January, he released “Good News,” co-written with college classmate and former roommate Zach Russell. Crownover described the song’s origins as stemming from conversations about how the modern evangelical movement frames “good news.”
Crownover has also produced albums for other artists and previously attempted Nashville songwriting, releasing an EP titled Greatest Hits, Vol. 3. He described his new material as more indie rock and folk-oriented than pop country, taking sonic chances he said other writers might avoid.
Since joining Childers’ team, Crownover has managed the artist’s expansion from bars and dance halls to arena and stadium tours. In early June, the Country Music Association named Childers’ team a finalist for Crew of the Year, with Crownover as a finalist for Tour Manager of the Year.
Crownover adopted Cheryl, a rescue dog, during a 2024 Childers show in Chicago when the crew brought in shelter animals. Cheryl has since become a social media presence with her own Instagram account, documenting playdates with her littermates adopted by other crew members.
