Becky G shared a tribute to Dolores Huerta, the labor leader and civil rights figure, after Huerta died on October 28, 2026, at the age of 96.
In an Instagram Stories post alongside a black-and-white photo of Huerta, Becky G wrote: “A true legend. A fierce & courageous woman with such a gentle heart.” She added: “Dolores, knowing you is one of my life’s greatest joys and inspirations.”
Last year, Becky G presented Huerta with the inaugural Luminary Award at the La Cena Celebration of Latino Culture in Hollywood. At the time, she called Huerta “one of the greatest labor and civil rights leaders of our time.”
Background
Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers and advocated for immigrant farm workers, Latinos, and women throughout her life. She coined the phrase “Sí, se puede!”, which has been used as a rallying cry at movements and marches. Well into her 90s, she traveled across the country to speak on race, poverty, and women’s rights on behalf of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, based in Bakersfield, California.
In 2012, Huerta received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, which was presented to her by then-President Barack Obama.
