The immersive theatrical dining event Mamma Mia! The Party is booked for its Australian premiere in March 2027 at Sydney Event Centre at The Star. The show was created by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus and is executive produced by Ulvaeus and Pophouse Entertainment, with TEG Dainty in Australia.
The production recreates a restaurant styled as a taverna on the Greek island of Skopelos, where most of the feature film was shot. Guests are served Mediterranean cuisine while a live band and a cast of 20 musicians and performers perform ABBA hits. At the end of the evening, the room becomes a 1970s-style disco.
Paul Dainty, president and CEO of TEG Dainty, promoted ABBA’s first and only Australian tour in 1977. Dainty said that working with Ulvaeus and Pophouse to bring the show to Sydney feels like a full-circle moment.
Sydney is the third city to host Mamma Mia! The Party, after Stockholm and London. The two productions have collectively staged over 1,500 performances and welcomed 700,000 diners.
Tickets for the Sydney run go on sale Thursday, November 12. Fans can join the waitlist at mammamiatheparty.com.au.
