Drake celebrated his 40th birthday on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Casa Cipriani in New York, hours before his official birthday on October 24. The party included a surprise performance by the Backstreet Boys and more than 400 guests, according to Billboard.
Footage from the event shows Drake joining the group for their 1999 single “I Want It That Way.” According to TMZ, the night also included luxury giveaways, including Chanel and Hermès handbags, and a game show offering cash prizes of up to $1 million.
The New York party closed several days of celebrations. Earlier in the week, friends surprised Drake with a collage of memories at a private gathering at the CN Tower in Toronto, according to XXL. Popcaan was among the guests. On Thursday, October 22, Drake was seen dining at the SoHo restaurant Mamo.
Drake previously performed with the Backstreet Boys in July 2022, during the group’s DNA World Tour stop at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage. At that show, the group introduced him as their “sixth member.” Drake has said the song was tied to one of his earliest memories of feeling accepted, when he heard it at his bar mitzvah.
Drake enters his 40s with a substantial chart record. He has logged more than 400 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, the most of any artist, and holds the record for the most top 10 hits. In May, his albums Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour debuted at Nos. 1, 2 and 3, respectively, on the Billboard 200.
