Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters played rarely performed songs at a benefit concert held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The event marked the 25th anniversary of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a nonprofit music school co-founded in 2001 by Chili Peppers bassist Flea and former touring member Keith “Tree” Barry.
Red Hot Chili Peppers opened with an instrumental jam before playing “Can’t Stop.” The band then performed “Organic Anti-Beat Box Band” from 1987’s The Uplift Mofo Party Plan and “Blackeyed Blonde” from 1985’s Freaky Styley, the latter for the first time since 2000. They also played “Nevermind,” which guitarist John Frusciante had not performed live with the group since 1992. Frusciante also performed a solo rendition of Carole King’s “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?” The 10-song set included “Black Summer,” “Whatchu Thinkin’,” “Hey,” “Eddie,” and “Give It Away.”
Dave Grohl took the stage for a seven-song performance that included “Times Like These” and “My Hero,” as well as covers of Mose Allison’s “Young Man Blues” and X’s “Nausea.” His daughter Violet joined him for a few songs. The highlight of his set came when his Foo Fighters bandmates joined him to revive the band’s cover of Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” for the first time since 2007. The Foo Fighters’ version was recorded as a B-side in the band’s early years and has remained a rare addition to their concerts.
The event also featured rapper Vince Staples, with comedian Marc Maron serving as host.
The Silverlake Conservatory of Music provides music education and scholarship opportunities to aspiring musicians in Los Angeles. The school serves more than 900 students each week, with over 200 receiving scholarships. Its annual fundraiser helps sustain those programs.
