Dancer and actor Mark Ballas returns to Broadway’s revival of Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre beginning July 20, stepping into the role of slick lawyer Billy Flynn through August 16. Ballas previously performed the role from April 6 through May 3.
Ballas made his Broadway debut in 2016 as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys at the August Wilson Theatre and later starred as Charlie Price in Kinky Boots on Broadway in 2019. He has been a professional dancer on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars since 2007, winning the series three times.
Eddie Cooper joins the cast on July 20 in the role of Amos Hart, succeeding Red Concepción. Cooper appeared on Broadway last season in The Fear of 13 and has performed in Dead Outlaw, Parade, and City Center Encores! productions including Titanic and Little Shop of Horrors.
Emmy winner Derek Hough will make a one-night-only Chicago debut at the 7 PM performance on July 20, delivering the musical’s opening monologue. Hough will participate in a post-performance talkback with Ballas. Hough made his Broadway debut in Burn the Floor and serves as a judge on Dancing With the Stars alongside Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno.
The current company also features Krysta Rodriguez as Roxie Hart, Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Jacqueline B. Arnold as Matron
