Guy Sebastian Settles Dispute With Former Manager Music News
Australian pop artist Guy Sebastian has resolved a Federal Court claim against his former manager Titus Day, ending a legal battle that lasted nearly a decade. Day issued a statement acknowledging regrettable decisions and accepting responsibility for mishandling Sebastian's income.

Guy Sebastian, a multiple ARIA Award winner and chart-topping Australian pop artist, has settled his Federal Court proceedings against Titus Day, his former manager of eleven-and-a-half years. A confidential agreement has been reached to end the dispute, which began after the management relationship ended in 2017 over a financial disagreement.

Sebastian had claimed Day owed him hundreds of thousands of dollars in performance fees and royalties. In his statement, Day acknowledged becoming “a poor steward” of Sebastian’s income and stated: “I acknowledge that… Guy attempted to settle with me on what I now consider to be incredibly fair terms.”

The legal battle included multiple trials, acquittals, and a hung jury. In 2022, Day was sentenced to four years in prison for embezzling A$600,000, though his convictions were later quashed on appeal.

Sebastian commented: “With the accountability shown and the apology Mr Day has provided, I am prepared to put aside my claim against him, forgive, and move forward.”

Sebastian, who won the first season of Australian Idol in 2003, has released ten studio albums, including his most recent, 100 Times Around The Sun, which peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Chart. In 2025, he launched his own label in partnership with Sony Music Australia.
