The Neighbourhood's 'Sweater Weather' Hits 1B YouTube Views Music News
The California rock band's 2012 hit has joined YouTube's Billion Views Club, becoming a cultural touchstone after a 2020 TikTok resurgence.

The Neighbourhood have reached a major milestone: their 2012 alternative hit “Sweater Weather” has surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube. The Jesse Rutherford-fronted California rock band released the track as the lead single from their 2013 debut studio album, I Love You.

The official music video was uploaded to YouTube in March 2013. The song peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album reached No. 25 on the Billboard 200. The milestone puts The Neighbourhood among other record-holders on YouTube’s Billion Views Club, including Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

“Sweater Weather” gained renewed prominence in 2020 when TikTok users adopted it as code language within the LGBTQIA+ community, with creators using the song to come out as bisexual to their followers. The resurgence drove a streaming surge that led the track to debut on the Billboard Global 200 more than eight years after its initial release, peaking at No. 134 on the chart dated November 7, 2020.
