A growing list of artists postponed or cancelled concerts on July 16 due to hazardous air quality from wildfires raging across the northeastern United States and southern Canada.
The Black Keys postponed their Chicago shows to October 20 and 21. “We’re sorry we won’t get to see y’all in Chicago tonight, but keeping everyone safe is the most important thing,” the band said in a social media post. All current tickets will be honored.
John Mellencamp postponed his concert at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan. Fans who purchased through Ticketmaster will receive automatic refunds; third-party purchases require contacting the original seller.
Mavis Staples cancelled her performance at SummerStage in Central Park, New York. The show may be rescheduled; fans were directed to check the SummerStage website for updates.
War and Treaty, a husband-and-wife duo, cancelled their show at Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park in New York City. “We’re heartbroken to share that tonight’s New York City show has been canceled due to the city’s state of emergency related to the ongoing wildfire conditions,” they said in an Instagram video.
Creed postponed their Minnesota performance to September 5. “Given the harsh environmental conditions and challenges they create for the band, crew, venue, staff and attendees, the decision has been made to move the performance,” the band said. Tickets for the July 16 date will be valid on the new date.
