Sam Fender & Olivia Dean’s ‘Rein Me In’ Breaks U.K. Chart Record

The collaboration has become the longest-running No. 1 single of the 2020s on the U.K. Official Singles Chart, with 16 weeks at the top. The track surpassed Alex Warren's "Ordinary" and is now tied with Drake's "One Dance" for the longest-running No. 1 in the 21st century.

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In” has set a new record on the U.K. Official Singles Chart, earning 16 weeks at No. 1 and becoming the longest-running No. 1 single of the 2020s. The track surpassed Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which held 13 weeks at the top in 2025, and is now tied with Drake’s “One Dance” as the longest-running No. 1 in the 21st century.

The song also surpassed Wet Wet Wet’s “Love is All Around,” written by Reg Presley, as the longest-running British No. 1 of all time. In February, it earned the BRIT Awards’ publicly-voted song of the year prize, with Dean and Fender collecting the award in Manchester.

The collaboration originated during Fender’s headline show at London Stadium in June 2025, the midway point of his Mercury Prize-winning LP People Watching rollout. During the performance, Olivia Dean, then a rising star serving as the show’s support act, joined Fender on a new verse of the album deep cut. In early May, Dean returned the favour by inviting Fender to perform the song at her headline performances at London’s O2 Arena.

Both artists are now leading the way for British acts on the global stage, capping off a remarkable turnaround for the U.K. music scene.
