Lana Del Rey announced the existence of a companion album titled Spyda in an Instagram post on Wednesday, revealing the project emerged during work on her album Stove. “I need a month to finish putting [Spyda] together,” she wrote, “and then send my two albums to vinyl.”
Del Rey described Stove as “a classic album” that remains “lovely and intact as it was intended to be,” noting much of the material has been performed on tour. Spyda, she explained, serves as “a beautiful, secondary album… A commentary of sorts on everything that has been going on, and the patience that was required.”
In her statement, Del Rey reflected on the creative process: “So much has happened over the last four years, so much time waiting for things to come together and so much time wondering if it was ok that things were falling apart. Patience was the key.” She credited multiple collaborators on both projects and expressed gratitude to fans for their support.
Stove and Spyda will be Del Rey’s first full-length releases since Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd in March 2023. She previously previewed Stove with the single “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” in February and recently released “First Light,” composed for the James Bond video game 007 First Light. No specific release date has been announced for either album.
