Jay-Z Performs Past 3 a.m. at Yankee Stadium 'Extra Innings' Show Music News
Jay-Z performed until nearly 3 a.m. at Yankee Stadium in a show delayed over three hours due to overcrowding. The concert featured guest appearances from Beyoncé, Rihanna, Pharrell, Usher, Jeezy, and others.

Jay-Z performed an extended concert at Yankee Stadium over the weekend, running past 3 a.m. Monday morning after a more than three-hour delay from the scheduled 9 p.m. start. The delay was caused by overcrowding outside the venue, with reports of gatecrashers and security lockdowns.

The “Extra Innings” show was the third night of Jay-Z’s Yankee Stadium residency celebrating the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of his 2001 album The Blueprint. The first two nights sold out instantly.

Jay-Z performed without backing vocals or a prompter, delivering songs spanning his career. Guest performers included Beyoncé (“Drunk in Love”), Rihanna (“Run This Town,” “Bitch Better Have My Money”), Pharrell, Usher, Jeezy, Jermaine Dupri, Swizz Beatz, the Clipse, and others. The Mayyas, a Lebanese dance group, accompanied Beyoncé’s performance.

The setlist drew from both anniversary albums and later releases, including “Brooklyn’s Finest,” “U Don’t Know,” “99 Problems,” “Empire State of Mind,” and “Encore.” Jay-Z addressed the crowd around 12:15 a.m., apologizing for the delay and citing safety concerns with approximately 10,000 people outside the stadium.

Approximately 45,000 attendees remained through the nearly 3 a.m. finish, chanting “Hova!” as the performance concluded.
