Jay-Z concluded his Yankee Stadium residency on Sunday night with an epic final show billed as “Extra Innings,” performing nearly 50 songs over almost three hours before a crowd exceeding 40,000 people. The concert ended around 3 a.m., capping a weekend that honoured the 25th anniversary of “Reasonable Doubt” and the 30th anniversary of “The Blueprint.”
The Sunday performance featured an extensive roster of guest artists including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Jermaine Dupri, Clipse, Teyana Taylor, Swizz Beatz, Jeezy, Fat Joe, Jadakiss and The-Dream. Beyoncé opened the show with a rendition of “Can’t Knock the Hustle” and later performed “Drunk in Love.” Rihanna delivered “Run This Town” and “Bitch Better Have My Money,” while Usher handled vocals on “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love)” and “Throwback.”
The concert was delayed by several hours due to venue access issues. Jay-Z addressed the crowd around 12:20 a.m., explaining that approximately 10,000 people remained outside the stadium and that doors had been closed for safety reasons. “I don’t want to start music and people get trampled,” he said. “I had to make sure everybody’s OK.”
The setlist spanned Jay-Z’s career, from early classics such as “Dead Presidents” and “Can I Live” to recent tracks including “Clique” and “FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt.” The performance concluded with an acapella rendition of “Dear Summer” followed by “Encore,” with fireworks lighting the New York sky as the show ended near 3 a.m.
