Tinashe has reached a new career milestone with her album Popstar debuting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, her highest-charting album ever and first top 10 appearance on the tally.
The singer celebrated the achievement on social media on October 5, writing: “I’m so unbelievably grateful, this is CRAZY! #6 BILLBOARD DEBUT.” Fellow artist Victoria Monét congratulated Tinashe, writing: “YESSS! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!”
The No. 6 debut represents a significant jump for Tinashe, whose previous career-high was her 2014 major-label debut Aquarius, which peaked at No. 17. Her subsequent albums Nightride and Joyride peaked at Nos. 89 and 58, respectively. Her 2024 independent album Quantum Baby debuted at No. 199.
The milestone follows Tinashe’s recent chart momentum. Her 2024 single “Nasty” reached No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100, her first solo entry on the chart in roughly a decade. Her collaboration with Disco Lines, “No Broke Boys,” peaked at No. 36 on the Hot 100 and spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Popstar represents another chapter in Tinashe’s career spanning more than a decade, during which she has moved between R&B, pop and dance genres.
