Taylor Swift was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame on Monday night by Brad Paisley, marking her second Songwriters Hall of Fame induction of the year. Swift gave her acceptance speech before an audience at the Music City Center. She became the youngest-ever member of the institution.
In her acceptance speech, Swift recalled her early career in Nashville, where she wrote on Music Row and received a publishing deal with Sony Publishing at age 14. She named co-writer Liz Rose and producer Nathan Chapman, who worked on her self-titled debut album. She also thanked Lainey Wilson for a stripped-down performance of “Love Story” and joked about Paisley, her former tour mate.
Swift’s fellow inductees included Shawn Camp, Bruce Channel, Lyle Lovett, and Lee Thomas Miller. George Strait was also honored at the event. The night also honored the late J.I. Allison, a member of Buddy Holly’s Crickets, who was inducted into the Legacy Category.
The induction comes as Swift’s self-titled debut album marked its 20th anniversary on Oct. 24. Earlier this year, she released her first country song in years, “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
