Geri Halliwell-Horner and Emma Bunton reunited for a Dunkin’ commercial premiering Tuesday, September 8, in which they reveal a fictional sixth Spice Girls member: Pumpkin Spice, played by SNL alum Rachel Dratch.
In the mock documentary-style spot, Bunton states, “A lot of people don’t know we originally had a sixth member.” Dratch, dressed in an orange outfit, performs fictional song titles including “Don’t Squash My Love” and “Bumpin’ Pumpkins,” before announcing she left the band to focus on lattes. Halliwell-Horner adds, “The others still won’t talk to her,” referencing absent members Victoria Beckham, Mel B and Mel C.
The campaign coincides with Dunkin’s autumn menu launch, featuring pumpkin spice, pie and patch latte flavors alongside pumpkin bakery items. Dratch said in a statement: “I think Pumpkin Spice was just ahead of her time. Maybe a little too seasonal, but definitely ahead of the curve.”
Bunton told Billboard that the pumpkin spice latte reminds her of family memories in New York and is her go-to drink. Halliwell-Horner noted her preference for tea but acknowledged enjoying Dunkin’ pastries.
The Spice Girls join a roster of celebrities advertising Dunkin’, including Sabrina Carpenter, Ice Spice, Jelly Roll and Megan Thee Stallion in recent campaigns.
