Drake hosted Spanish professional padel player Juan Lebrón Chincoa, known as El Lobo (The Wolf), at his second annual Nike NOCTA retreat. Chincoa, considered one of the best padel players in the world, shared photos and videos from the event on Instagram, expressing gratitude to Drake for the invitation.
A shirt featured in Chincoa’s carousel post read “The only LeBron I rate is Juan,” a play on Jay-Z’s line from the 2013 track “Oceans” (“Only Christopher we acknowledge is Wallace”) and an apparent reference to Drake’s dispute with NBA player LeBron James. The two had a falling-out in 2024 after James attended Kendrick Lamar’s victory lap concert, prompting Drake to diss him on multiple occasions since.
Drake posted his own Instagram carousel with bars claiming he has “spent the last 24 months proving myself right” following his battle with Kendrick Lamar. He wrote: “Of course I’m about to have the summer of my life / Spent amounts on you that make my accountant roll his eyes.”
Former NBA player Tristan Thompson, a mutual friend, told Shannon Sharpe earlier in July that he has been attempting to reconcile the two. “I’m trying, man. I’m trying, I’m trying, I’m trying,” Thompson said.
James signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on July 24, placing him in the same Atlantic Division as Drake’s Toronto Raptors. The teams will face each other four times during the 82-game season.
