Travis Scott Detained by French Police Following Altercation at Paris Hotel
Rapper Travis Scott remains in French police custody following an altercation with a security guard at a Paris hotel, according to French prosecutors on Saturday.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that Scott’s detention was extended Friday night, though no additional details were provided as the investigation is still ongoing.
Scott was taken into custody early Friday after police were called to the Georges V hotel. The initial report stated that a man, identified as Travis Scott, was involved in an altercation with a security guard who intervened during a dispute between the rapper and his bodyguard.
A representative for Scott in the U.S. and his legal counsel have not yet responded to inquiries from The Associated Press regarding the incident.
Following Scott’s arrest, a representative for the rapper stated that they are “in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to resolve this matter swiftly and will provide updates when appropriate.” The representative chose to remain anonymous, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Scott was in Paris for the Olympics and attended the men’s basketball semifinal on Thursday night, where the United States secured a victory over Serbia.
As one of hip hop’s biggest stars, Scott, whose real name is Jacques Webster, has made a significant impact on the music industry with over 100 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. He has achieved four chart-topping singles, including “Sicko Mode,” “Highest in the Room,” “The Scotts,” and “Franchise.”
Scott shares two children with his former girlfriend, media personality and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner.
This recent incident in Paris follows Scott’s June arrest in Miami Beach, where he faced misdemeanor charges of trespassing and public intoxication. Police reported that Scott was found shouting obscenities at people on a yacht and refused to leave the city’s marina when ordered by officers.
