Slipknot Revives Their Self-Titled Album for 25th Anniversary Tour Kickoff
Note: “Everything You Hear Tonight Was Written Before 1999!”
Slipknot launched their highly anticipated 25th-anniversary tour with an electrifying performance in Noblesville, Indiana, declaring a clear message to fans: “Nothing you will hear tonight was written after 1999.”
The band delivered a setlist that functioned as a live retrospective, taking fans on a journey through the raw energy and intensity of their early years. The show opened with the ominous "742617000027," seamlessly transitioning into the ferocious "sic," capturing the essence of the chaos that defined their breakthrough era.
Throughout the night, Slipknot played fan favorites from their pre-Y2K catalog, including essential tracks like "Wait and Bleed," "Prosthetics," "Purity" (with a lead-in from "Frail Limb Nursery"), and "Eyeless," all of which received a tremendous response from the crowd. However, the standout moments came from tracks that hadn’t been performed live in over a decade.
The band resurrected "Me Inside" for the first time since 2015 and revived "No Life" after a long hiatus since the turn of the century. They also brought back "Only One," a track not played since before Barack Obama’s presidency. While "Diluted" was the only track from their self-titled album not included, Slipknot more than made up for it by adding "Get This" to the setlist, alongside "Me Inside."
The night reached its peak with timeless classics, including a rousing version of "Surfacing," which they playfully dubbed the "National Fucking Anthem," and a high-energy rendition of "Spit It Out." The grand finale saw Slipknot performing "Scissors" for the first time since the year 2000, delivering a powerful close to their set.
The band’s performance showcased their enduring intensity and dominance, affirming that their silver anniversary tour might be their most impactful yet. Slipknot’s celebration continues with a North American tour, culminating in Knotfest Iowa, before heading to Knotfest Brasil, Knotfest Argentina, Knotfest Chile, and additional headlining shows in Latin America.
The tour will also make its way to Europe and the UK to finish the year, with plans for a Knotfest Australia date in 2025 still to be announced.
