Broadway’s Tony-nominated revival Cats: The Jellicle Ball will release a cast album this winter through Atlantic Records, the production announced August 1 during a performance at the Broadhurst Theatre. The album will be recorded later in August by the full company, produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Alana da Fonseca. An official release date and pre-order information will be announced later.
The show closes August 8 after previews began March 18 and an official opening April 7. The production won three 2026 Tony Awards: Best Choreography (Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons), Best Direction of a Musical (Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch), and Best Costume Design of a Musical (Qween Jean).
The reimagined revival transforms Jellicle cats into drag ball contestants on a runway, infusing Lloyd Webber’s original score with dance music-inspired beats. The cast includes Tony winner André De Shields as Old Deuteronomy, Chasity Moore as Grizabella, Junior LaBeija as Gus, Sydney James Harcourt as Rum Tum Tugger, and Legendary head judge Leiomy as Mavacity, among others. The production is co-directed by Levingston and Rauch with choreography by Wiles and Lyons.
The original Cats debuted in London in 1979, adapted from T.S. Eliot’s poetry collection. The first Broadway production ran from 1982 to 2000, winning seven Tony Awards including Best Musical. Cats: The Jellicle Ball is the second Broadway revival of the musical.
