Taylor Swift made a surprise cameo on “Saturday Night Live” on October 3, 2026, appearing alongside host Dakota Johnson in the opening monologue. After Johnson joked about her friends being supportive and introduced her “literal therapist,” Swift appeared onscreen, delivering a comedic bit in which she described Johnson’s weekly visits to her house with wine and oversharing.
Johnson opened her monologue with jokes about her dating history, referencing two public breakups with musicians Chris Martin of Coldplay and Role Model. “Looking for a third,” she said. Later in the segment, Johnson continued the dating theme, saying “I’m doing a public service by dating them, because, ladies, I am saving you a lot of money on Zoloft.” She then added, “And also England. And parts of Ireland. And Cleveland” — a reference to Travis Kelce, which drew the response “Allegedly.”
Swift also brought out a birthday cake for Johnson during the episode’s goodnights, as Johnson’s birthday was arriving at midnight. The musical guest for the episode was Turnstile, so Swift did not perform.
This marked Swift’s first on-screen appearance on “SNL” since October 2023, when she introduced musical guest Ice Spice. Swift’s sole time hosting came in 2009, and she has also made cameos including a 2014 monologue and a 2015 “Californians” sketch. The appearance came after Swift directed and co-starred in the music video for “Patient Zero,” which premiered on the MTV Video Music Awards the previous Sunday and also features Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.
