Stella Lefty responded positively to a Saturday Night Live sketch that satirizes the songwriting debate surrounding her breakout hit “Boston.” SNL shared the cut-for-time Weekend Update sketch on Thursday, October 1, featuring cast member Veronika Slowikowska impersonating Lefty opposite Colin Jost.
Lefty reposted the clip to her Instagram Story with the caption: “Funny asf @nbcsnl (@veronika_iscool ur voice is amazing).” She also commented on the original SNL Instagram post: “I’m so dead @veronika_iscool ur voice is fire.”
The sketch centers on online discussion around “Boston,” which has drawn comparisons to Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season.” Kahan is credited as a songwriter on Lefty’s track, which interpolates the melody from his 2022 hit. In the bit, Slowikowska’s version of Lefty insists her songs are original before performing recognizable melodies with Boston-themed lyrics, including parodies of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” Barenaked Ladies’ “One Week,” Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and the Harry Potter theme.
“Boston” has become one of 2026’s major country-pop releases, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The song helped Lefty’s debut album “Long Way Home” reach No. 11 on the Billboard 200.
