Apple Music has announced Apple Music Hall, a new state-of-the-art live music venue at its London headquarters in Battersea Power Station. The 600-capacity space features a 38-foot-wide stage that can be reconfigured for traditional front-facing performances or in-the-round experiences, with both standing and seated areas.
The venue is equipped with a 48-speaker spatial sound system and operates as a full production facility with two recording and mix studios built to professional standards. The space is hardwired for 16 or more cameras feeding a purpose-built broadcast control room that supports both iPhone video capture and traditional broadcast cameras. Artists will be able to perform live, record shows in Spatial Audio in a broadcast-ready mix, and capture multi-camera video directly from the venue.
Apple Music Radio’s London-based hosts and shows will also broadcast live from the space. An opening date and details of the first performing act have not yet been confirmed. Fans can visit applemusichall.com for ticket information and updates.
Battersea Power Station, a former coal-fired power station on the River Thames, has historical connections to music. Pink Floyd featured the building on the artwork for their 1977 album Animals, and Mumford & Sons performed at the venue for Apple’s 50th anniversary celebration in March.
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s VP of Apple Music and international content, said: “Today, with the opening of Apple Music Hall, we are once again taking an unprecedented step further in our commitment to artists and fans by supporting live music in ways only Apple can do.”
