Freya Skye’s latest single, “Bad Taste,” topped Billboard’s weekly new music poll, with fans voting the just-released track as their favorite new music. The playful pop tune garnered 82% of the vote.
The song sees Skye laughing off her own dating blunders, singing about attraction to chaotic situations. Key lyrics include: “I’m a sucker for a pretty face / I’m a sucker for a mistake.”
Though the fully produced recording of “Bad Taste” recently dropped, Skye previewed a live acoustic rendition in December at her first headlining concert in New York City. She told Billboard the vulnerable moment left her exposed initially, but “by the last chorus, [the crowd] was singing the words and I was like, ‘Well this is great.'”
Skye, a singer-songwriter and actress known for her role in Disney’s Zombies franchise, said the song is not expected to appear on her debut full-length album but hopes it will excite fans for the next phase of her musical career.
ROSÉ’s solo single “New Trick” placed second with 14% of the vote, followed by new releases from Miley Cyrus (“Bass Persuades”), Carly Rae Jepsen (“Day and Night”) and Riley Green (“That’s Just Me”).
