Taylor Swift removed “I Bet You Think About Me” from a TikTok video posted by the official White House account on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The video featured Donald Trump and included the 2021 vault track as its soundtrack, with a caption reading “We know you think about us,” referencing the song’s lyrics. The song was muted and removed within hours.
The removal follows a similar incident on August 8, when Swift removed “August” from a post by the Team Trump TikTok account, Trump’s official campaign page. That video’s caption stated “I’m sure Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song.” After the removal, Swift also muted other songs featured in past Team Trump videos from the previous fall.
Since Trump took office during his second term, his administration has used social media for communication, posting clips that employ popular music alongside content related to immigration policy and foreign policy. The videos using Swift’s songs have focused on portraying the president and his wife in a positive light.
Swift has not issued a public statement regarding the removals. The situation mirrors a recent case involving Bad Bunny, whose track “La Mudanza” was used in a White House video and subsequently muted without comment from the artist. Trump-affiliated accounts have not attempted to use Bad Bunny’s music since.
