Angélique Kidjo will become the first African musician to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony is set for August 18, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. PT.

Musical icon Angélique Kidjo is set to become the first African musician and first Black African performer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She will receive the 2,854th star.

The ceremony will take place on August 18, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. PT at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard. Willem Dafoe and Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares, will join Kidjo for the ceremony, which will be emceed by Variety correspondent Angelique Jackson and streamed live at www.walkoffame.com.

Kidjo, 64, was born in Benin and relocated to Paris in 1983. She has won five Grammy Awards, including best contemporary world music album in 2008 and best global music album four times between 2015 and 2022. She also received the Polar Music Prize in 2023.

Since 1981, Kidjo has released 19 albums, blending West African styles with funk, jazz and R&B. Her collaborators include Burna Boy, Philip Glass, Sting, Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel, John Legend, Bono and Yo-Yo Ma.
