Tate McRae released ‘Housewife’ on Thursday, October 15, 2026, the lead single from her forthcoming fourth album. The release was accompanied by a music video shot in the South of France.
McRae previewed the single earlier in October during an appearance on The Tonight Show, where she said the song is about a woman who cannot be contained.
The singer said she had continued to drop hints about her new era, but her fans had not picked up on them. “My fans, in particular, we drop Easter eggs all the time, and they get none of them,” McRae said, adding that they tend to latch onto things that are completely wrong.
In August, McRae closed her headlining set at Lollapalooza in Chicago by taking a dip in gold. During the set, she also appeared to tease her next era with a video clip of a ticking clock set to an unreleased snippet.
McRae’s most recent album, So Close to What, was released in February 2025. It topped the Billboard 200 with 177,000 total album-equivalent units, according to Luminate.
