Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía performed two songs from her acclaimed album Lux on Saturday Night Live, according to Rolling Stone Music.

Rosalía appeared to sing all of “Reliquia” while on her toes, as shadows of orchestral musicians were cast on the white curtain behind her. She sang “Magnolias,” the 18th and final song on Lux, in the rain, dressed in white, against a dark backdrop. Rosalía trained with a professional ballerina to prepare for the choreography on her tour for Lux.

In a five-star review, Rolling Stone said the album “sounds like absolutely nothing else in music right now, and it’s an album no other pop star could have made.”

The hour-long, four-movement album follows Motomami (2022) and El Mal Querer (2018). In a press release announcing the album last year, Rosalía described it as “a widescreen emotional arc of feminine mystique, transformation, and spirituality.” She said the songs were inspired by learning about saints. She told Billboard that a main theme of not fearing can be found shared across many religions.

Chart performance and awards

Lux, which came out last November, reached the top spot in several countries, including Billboard’s Top Classical Albums, Top Latin Albums, and World Albums charts in the U.S. Rosalía has wrapped up her Lux Tour and has no new dates scheduled. Lux has pending nominations at the Billboard Latin Music Awards and the Latin Grammys.
