Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan appear on vintage game-show sets in the retro music video for the “Expectations” remix. The video also features musician David Byrne and producer Dan Nigro. It was directed by Bardia Zeinali.
The sets are clearly inspired by Family Feud and Hollywood Squares. Byrne appears as Johnny Johnson, host of the “Big Expectations” show, where he asks three Rodrigos in different outfits about how they got there. The video then moves between the different sets.
Roan delivers a new verse for the remix on the set of “Sister Squabble,” where she faces Rodrigo in a “Family Feud” face-off. Nigro appears at the end holding a giant 1990s-style brick phone. He produced “Expectations” and its parent album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.
Roan supported Rodrigo on both the Sour and Guts tours. Roan also recently performed at Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival in late August, an all-female lineup that included Doechii, Rachel Chinouriri, Garbage and the Breeders.
