Olivia Rodrigo has released a remix of “expectations” featuring Chappell Roan, marking Roan’s first-ever guest feature. The remix was produced by Daniel Nigro, a longtime collaborator of both artists.
The remix arrives with a music video directed by Bardia Zeinali. The visual is framed as a fictional 1970s game show called “The Big Expectations Show,” in the style of The Price Is Right, with Roan and Rodrigo as competitors.
The remix is also available in limited-edition physical formats, including 7-inch vinyl, CDs, and cassettes.
Context
The collaboration follows Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Southern California this summer. Roan was among the performers at the women-led event, which raised $20 million for 10 nonprofit organizations supporting women and girls.
Rodrigo is currently on tour with “The Unraveled Tour,” which has sold more than 1 million tickets worldwide. Roan is scheduled to host a two-day fundraiser in Los Angeles later this month, The Super Graphic Spectacular and The Super Graphic Block Party, with net proceeds from ticket sales benefiting her Midwest Princess Project, which supports trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.
“expectations” originally appeared on Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 equivalent album units in its first week. The album also topped the charts in 17 countries.
