Amanda Seyfried posted an Instagram video on Tuesday performing Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” from her home. In the playful clip, a blonde Ghostface character creeps up behind her during the performance and causes her to scream before the video cuts off.
Seyfried learned the entirety of Mitchell’s 1971 album Blue while preparing for a biopic about Mitchell and her manager Elliot Roberts, a project that was subsequently shelved. “The day that I finished learning the last song on the album, ‘[The Last Time I Saw] Richard’, I fucking wept,” Seyfried told GQ. “I felt like a bona fide musician, like I belong here.”
To prepare for the role, Seyfried met Mitchell at her home in Los Angeles, where the folk icon shared stories from her life and the two listened to Blue together. Director Cameron Crowe is developing a separate Mitchell project in which Meryl Streep is set to star as the singer in her later years.
