Raye took the stage at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards for her first solo performance at the ceremony, opening with “I Will Overcome” before transitioning into “Where Is My Husband?,” which is nominated for Song of the Year.
The 28-year-old performed in a glimmering red dress after entering in a floor-length white fur coat. She was accompanied by a six-piece string section and more than a dozen additional musicians, performing barefoot. The set included an updated recording from her grandmother, whose voice appears on the original studio version of the track.
Raye also incorporated an interpolation of the disco-funk hit “Funkytown” into her performance. Following her solo set, she participated in a tribute to George Michael alongside Sombr and Teddy Swims, with Adam Blackstone as musical director.
“Where Is My Husband?” is the lead single from Raye’s second studio album, This Music May Contain Hope, released in March 2026. The track peaked at Number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is competing against entries from Madonna and Carpenter, BTS, Ella Langley, Huntr/x, Olivia Dean, and PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson for the Song of the Year award.
